Porsche initially planned to manufacture only 500 units, but demand was so strong that production eventually reached \u003cstrong data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"570\"\u003e1,580 cars\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"573\" data-end=\"795\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThe Carrera RS 2.7 was the most powerful road-going 911 of its generation. It was also the first Porsche 911 to use the Carrera name and became famous for its distinctive rear spoiler, commonly known as the \u003cstrong data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"795\"\u003e“ducktail.”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1096\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThe lightweight Sport version weighed approximately 960 kilograms and produced 210 horsepower. It accelerated from \u003cstrong data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"944\"\u003e0 to 100 km\/h in 5.8 seconds\u003c\/strong\u003e. The letters \u003cstrong data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"984\"\u003eRS stand for RennSport\u003c\/strong\u003e, meaning “racing sport” in German, and they have since identified Porsche’s most competition-focused road cars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1295\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eIn 2022, Porsche presented a modern 911 GT3 RS finished in white with \u003cstrong data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1192\"\u003ePython Green details\u003c\/strong\u003e, directly inspired by the white-and-green colour combination available on the original Carrera RS 2.7.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1662\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThis later became the \u003cstrong data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1352\"\u003eTribute to Carrera RS Package\u003c\/strong\u003e, a limited configuration created for the United States market.
